We’re happy to announce that the next installment in The Witcher series of video games is currently in development, kicking off a new saga for the franchise.

This is an exciting moment as we’re moving from REDengine to Unreal Engine 5, beginning a multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games. It covers not only licensing, but technical development of Unreal Engine 5, as well as potential future versions of Unreal Engine, where relevant. We'll closely collaborate with Epic Games’ developers with the primary goal being to help tailor the engine for open-world experiences.

At this point, no further details regarding the game — such as a development time frame or release date — are available.

REDengine, the technology which powers Cyberpunk 2077, is still being used for the development of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion.

CD Projekt Red confirms Witcher 4 Unreal demo showcases tech tools, doesn't represent final game:

UPDATE 4:28pm UK: CD Projekt Red has confirmed to Eurogamer the demonstration in the Unreal livestream was a tech demo played live and running at 60fps on a base PS5, although this isn't meant to represent a final version of The Witcher 4.

"This tech demo runs at 60fps on PS5, and that's the performance we're aiming for in The Witcher 4," said a representative from the studio. "It's still too early to confirm exact specs for every platform, but we're working closely with Epic to create an open-world experience that's both beautiful to look at and smooth to play."

Further, when asked if this tech demo could give unrealistic expectations on how The Witcher 4 will perform at launch, given The Witcher 3's initial performance, the studio responded: "It's important to keep in mind that this tech demo isn't meant to represent The Witcher 4 - it's a showcase of the tools we're developing together with Epic Games. That means specific visuals like character models and environments may be different to The Witcher 4."

Fiind un tech demo, sper sa vedem ceva la macar 75% din calitatea aia, dar au dovedit ca daca se vrea se poate...

Varianta oficiala, in 4K:

Singurul minus e ca imaginea pare cam "soft" si are un motion-blur mai agresiv, poate pe PS5 Pro va fi mai sharp .

E 4K doar cu numele, dar feed-ul probabil este acelasi - iar ei, oficial, puteau pune video principal.

Si da, arata a 1080p upscalled pentru ca totul e blurry, dar probabil asta este compromisul pentru 60fps cu RT pe PS5.

E clar ca UE5 nu poate mai mult pe current gen.
