Ubisoft's Jean-Francois Boivin has revealed the first ever details about Assassin's Creed 3 to GamerZines, telling us that the yet-to-be-announced title will feature a "new setting" and a "new hero".
Talking to us at an Ubisoft event held in London on Wednesday, Assassin's Creed's Production Manager said that introducing a new character and setting to each numbered title in the franchise is "the way it works".
"Yep, that's the way we see our numbers," said Boivin when we asked him whether Assassin's Creed 3 would see a new lead character.
"Assassin's Creed 3: new setting, new hero. That's the way it works.
"We know what we're doing; we've had a plan for a long time where this license is going to go."
Assassin's Creed 3, of course, is not to be confused with this year's Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood which, though being the third core game in the series, continues the story of Ezio, the assassin introduced in Assassin's Creed II.
That game launches in November this year, though judging by talk today Assassin's Creed 3 may still be a fair way off. Boivin told Eurogamer yesterday that an Assassin's Creed title would not be releasing during 2011, pointing to a 2012 release for Assassin's Creed 3.

Assassin's Creed 3 could work in WW2 - Ubi

Assassin's Creed 3 set during World War II could work, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood producer and occasional CVG drinking partner, Vincent Pontbriand has told GamesMaster mag.

Pontbriand told GM this month: "We have a couple of options [for AC3]. So far we've tried to take eras that had very important things happen in them that are known worldwide. So WW2 for example - we could have an Assassin's there. It would work.

"So you can draw a list of major events in history during the last 5,000 years and those could be our choices!"

It's the second time Ubisoft's mentioned WWII as a possible AC3 setting, with fellow producer S�bastien Puel revealing last year that Ubisoft's discussed the idea.

Puel also told our colleagues at XBW that a female protagonist could work for the setting.

He said: "We've had discussions on that very topic. It could be really interesting but we'd need to find the right time period and place for that.

"We don't want to just decide we want to change and have a female hero as the first inspiration is always the time period, but if you're talking about, say, World War II the economies in England and France were run by women because the men were off fighting.

"So maybe in this context you were a woman in England during WWII. Why not? Nothing prevents us from doing it."

Next Assassin’s Creed game set in Victorian London?

Could the next Assassin’s Creed game be set in Victorian London? It’s certainly not out of the question, it seems.

While speaking to GamesRadar about the possibility of the next Assassin’s Creed game being set in Victorian London, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood game director Patrick Plourde said “Late C19 would be amazing”.

He later went on to say “I have Sherlock Holmes, the Arthur Conan Doyle stuff on my bedside table. It’s a big brick – all the novels in one book!”

“I think there’s huge potential there for another game – and instead of the game being close to Batman it’d be more like James Bond.”

We think it’s a pretty interesting idea, could you imagine playing as Jack the Ripper, perhaps? Where would you like to see the series go next?

Assassin's Creed gets the next title Holy Land?

That probably in 2011 an Assassin's Creed will come out, was already known. The title of the next part is still unknown, but this can sometimes Assassin's Creed: Holy Land are.

Maybe you knew it already, maybe not, but there are now also Assassin's Creed books for sale. These are based on the game franchise. Thus, there is the first Assassin's Creed: Renaissance which examines the story of Assassin's Creed. Also is Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood as a book already in stores.

After having questioned today in bookstores Selexyz shows that the system even though a new Assassin's book. This is Holy Land and be as good next year on the market. Since the previous two books also tell the story of the game, it seems logical that this is the book of Assassin's Creed III, then the subtitle Holy Land going to wear.

Ubisoft has not yet released a new Assassin's Creed, so is waiting for an announcement by the French publisher.
