Xbox's new hardware plans begin with a gaming handheld in 2025 | Windows Central:

First up, Microsoft is working with a PC gaming OEM (think ASUS, Lenovo, MSI, Razer, etc.) on an Xbox-branded gaming handheld, surprisingly slated for later in 2025 if plans are met. Codename "Keenan," this gaming handheld will look unmistakably "Xbox" we're told, complete with an official Xbox guide button, and Xbox design sensibilities. Given that this is a partner device, similar to Lenovo's SteamOS partnership with Valve, I expect this handheld to be more PC-oriented. It'll most likely run full Windows, putting the Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass front and center, alongside the ability to install things like Steam. [...]

For now, I understand that Microsoft's next-gen hardware plans include a premium successor to the powerful Xbox Series X, alongside its own Xbox gaming handheld, and several new controller options. Tentatively, these new console devices are slated for 2027.

Consola handheld care ruleaza Windows. Mda, sunt deja destule optiuni, dar cine stie, poate va fi implementat in ecosistem cumva. Daca nu va rula jocuri de Xbox ci doar de PC, ceau...produs useless, care deja exista pe piata.

Deci dupa ce si-au vandut sufletul si au distrus fara scrupule insusi scopul unei console, adica jocurile exclusive, nenorocitii astia vin acum si vor sa puna un sticker pe Steam Deck si sa mi-l vanda ca 'noul xbox'?

Apoi, cu acel succesor premium, cum Hristosii mamii lor planuiesc ei sa-l marketeze, fara jocuri?? Sa il cumpere lumea ca sa ce?

Din dragostea vietii mele ce a fost Xbox, simt in momentul asta o asemenea furie pe compania asta cum n-am simtit pe nimeni si pe nimic in toata viata mea! Imi doresc din adancul sufletului meu sa se desfiinteze ca si companie si toti angajatii lor care au luat parte la deciziile care au distrus brandul Xbox sa ajunga in mina in Trinidad Tobago!

Mai adaug ceva. In ultimele 2 saptamani cei de la Xbox au inceput sa puna tot mai multe jocuri pe Xcloud, sa le poti face streaming. Va dati seama cand iese consola handheld noua, mare reclama ca puteti face streaming la sute de jocuri, bla bla....in Romania ? pauza.

Eu nu cred ca o sa fie un simplu PC handheld cu windows. Ar putea face un Series S successor, handheld - adica o consola cu specs mai joase decat high end console, dar sa fie portabil.
Iar asta inseamna ca jocurile vor fi optimizate pentru acea consola, nu sa stam noi cu slidere si cu teste si cu setari luate de pe internet ca sa speram ca putem juca mai bine.

Mie mi se pare ceva foarte tare, daca nu se va baza pe streaming ci pe rulat local.
La urma urmei, daca vine oficial xcloud si in RO, ar fi un bonus - nu stiu cati ati avut ocazia sa testati xcloud intr-o tara suportata, dar e ceva mai mult decat decent, mai ales ca mai nou poti face streaming si la jocurile care nu sunt in gamepass.

Hai sa vedem intai ce se intampla si directia spre care se indreapta si apoi sa-i blamam.

Nici macar despre Romania nu mai este vorba, desi mi-am irosit 17 ani din viata cu sperante false si petitii, este vorba despre faptul ca nimic din ceea ce fac nu are sens.

• distrugi conceptul de joc exclusiv, insusi diamantul si comoara unui ecosistem inchis ca cel al unei console.
• elimini ca un nenorocit stocurile de console din Europa! Eu daca mi se arde XSX, ce fac, ca eu bani de PC nu am acum!?
• apari cu un c**at de consola handheld pe o piata ultrasaturata de handhelds in acelasi timp in care distrugi stocurile de console clasice, ma obligi sa imi schimb 'platform of choice' in timp ce iti pute gura peste tot de #everywhere#anywhere#!
• ma fortezi sa trec la PC unde imi dai suport oficial, adica PC de 3000$ imi permit in Romania, mizeria ta de consola nu mi-o permiteam, lasa ca stau ca un idiot in continuare pe UK daca n-am bani de PC
• ma umilesti in ultimul hal lansand Gears of War pe PlayStation! Lanseaza ba mizeriile celelalte cu care te bati cu pumnul in piept, dar ai ba un pic de onoare si de respect si tine memoria acestor TITANI nepatata! Lasa ba seria Gears of War sa moara frumos si sa intre in negura istoriei ca exclusiv de Xbox. ANIMALE ORDINARE CARE SUNTETI!

Ma opresc ca mi-e teama ca fac AVC si mai am treaba pe planeta, n-am simtit niciodata in viata asta asemenea dezgust si asemenea furie!

Repet, eu n-am treaba ca nu stiu care joc merge pe ps5, whatever. Dar adu si inapoi ceva, orice. In ultimele saptamani, pe orice podcast Xbox discutia de baza e ce joc Xbox va fi portat pe Ps5. Atat! Sunt semi incantat de consola asta noua.

Lasand reoparte pasiunea lui Xander, mie mi se pare un lucru foarte bun dpdv financiar, pentru Xbox, aceasta "portare" a jocurilor lor exclusive, pe PS, mai ales la cat au investit in ultimii ani.
Cat timp noi, cei cu abonament gamepass, avem jocurile respective incluse in abonament day 1 - fara costuri suplimentare - deci nu ma afecteaza in ninciun fel, efectiv nu vad o problema cu asta.

Dar revenind on topic, poate anunta consola in vara, daca planurile sunt sa o lanseze la finalul anului. Si poate true next gen console sa fie anuntat in iarna la The Game Awards.

I understand the Xbox work that has hit the headlines this week is actually called Project Kennan, not Keenan. I'm told that Kennan is the codename for a handheld that is being manufactured by Asus, and it's part of a larger effort from Microsoft to unify Windows and Xbox towards a universal library of Xbox and PC games.

I'm told that Asus is one of the launch partners for these efforts, with an Xbox-branded handheld likely to debut later this year. I say likely because a lot of this platform work is still ongoing, so until Microsoft officially announces it, timelines could change.

Some of this platform work is codenamed Project Bayside, part of an Xbox UX framework that is designed to ensure there's a common Xbox UI across multiple devices to help combine Windows and Xbox. Together, Kennan and Bayside represent some of the work that Ronald was hinting at, opening up the benefits of Xbox to the broader Windows ecosystem.

Microsoft is also working on combining Windows and Xbox in a way where there's a single store of games and an easier path for game developers to build titles that span across handhelds, console-like hardware, and PC gaming rigs.
