E la moda, mai ales in perioade de criza, sa primim tot felul de statistici. Statistici despre vanzari, despre numar de ban-uri, si culmea in astfel de perioada grea, statistici despre jocuri ce se vand in numar record. Trecand peste Modern Warfare 2 care s-a vandut in peste 7 milioane de exemplare in prima zi, sarim la Microsoft care ne anunta cu mandrie ca a atins cifra de 10 milioane de console pe continentul European (nu inteleg de ce includ si Middle East si Africa tot aici). 10 milioane de console in 4 ani, o suma impresionanta as spune.

Cu toate acestea, aruncam un numar si la cifrele de pe indepartatul continent american. Unde, pe luna Octombrie, Nintendo Wii este inca rege la vanzari. Aceasta s-a vandut in peste 506.000 de bucati, in timp ce consolele "concurente" PS3 si Xbox 360 s-au mentinut in jurul sumei de 300.000 de bucati (320.600 PS3 si 249.700 Xbox 360). Nintendo DS sta la fel de bine pe locul 2 cu 457.600 de unitati, in timp ce PSP de-abia atinge 175.000. Culmea este ca batranul PS2 in aceeasi luna s-a vandut aproape la fel de bine ca si PSP, mai exact in aproape 120.000 de unitati.

Asa ca ramane doar sa ne intrebam: "Pentru console unde este criza ?"

Mai exact, in jur de 5 milioane bucati vandute in prima zi. Cat despre cele 10 milioane de console, este posibil sa ma insel, dar acum 4-5 luni Microsoft anunta ca sunt cu 1 milion inaintea celor de la Sony, care aveau deja la acea data, 10 milioane de console in "EU".

Daca tot suntem la cifre, Modern Warfare 2 leaderboards: Xbox360 ~2.6 mil / PS3 ~2 mil, asa ca ratia de 2:1, ramane inca incerta.

Si mai exact, au vandut 4.7 milioane de bucati in prima zi doar in UK si US. Dar mai are si "rest of the world" ceva de spus, nu doar US/UK....

The launch next week of instant streaming HD movies, Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm on Tuesday 17th November 2009 transforms Xbox LIVE into the largest social network connected to the TV and strengthens Xbox 360's already impressive line up of interactive entertainment services.

"Xbox 360 continues to pull ahead of the competition when it comes to delivering on a complete home entertainment experience and we think that Xbox Live currently is about 12 to 18 months ahead of its main rival PlayStation Network when it comes to offering service and content beyond traditional games," said Martin Olausson, Director of Digital Media Research at Strategy Analytics. "By introducing innovative new services and content such as Natal, instant streaming of full 1080P HD video, and integrating social media features such as Twitter and Facebook, Xbox will likely attract a wider audience than its rivals and is in a great position to maximize sales in the next few years".

2009 has been a pivotal year in Xbox's journey from its gaming origins to now changing the way people consume and share entertainment content, interact with each other online and continue to play great games. It's a change that people are embracing; there are more than 20 million Xbox LIVE active members worldwide and there have been over 1 billion downloads of gaming and entertainment content, with movie downloads doubling in the last year alone.

It has also caused a shift in the Xbox customer base as now 35% of Xbox customers are women and 64% are over the age of 25[2]. The arrival of the much anticipated 'Project Natal' will create a new category of gaming and entertainment experiences through controller-free gaming that makes Xbox 360 more inclusive and relevant to an even wider audience.
