Baldur’s Gate 3 development has “slowed”, but Early Access still starts in 2020

“Development is proceeding,” Larian chief Swen Vincke tells the New York Times. “We’re just slowed down.” Vincke says that the studio is operating at 70 to 80% of its normal production capacity, and that the team is still working out how to organise and manage itself while working from home.

Despite that, Baldur’s Gate 3 is still on track to launch in Early Access in 2020. Vincke adds on Twitter that his “first New York Times interview was not exactly about what I would’ve imagined, but it does bring some good news: While we’re slowed down, development on BG3 keeps on progressing and we still expect EA this year.”

The proper, full Baldur’s Gate 3 release date remains some uncertain date in the future, but at least we can count on some playable version of the game landing in 2020.
