God of War III E3 09 Interview -- PlayStation Universe

While at the Sony booth today, we had the chance to speak with Todd Papy, the Lead Designer of God of War III. Todd talked a bit about everything; the game's story, tech, development process, and gameplay are all discussed. Take a look.

The hour and a half queue to play Sony Santa Monica�s God of War 3 is perhaps the longest wait of any exhibit at this year�s E3, and it�s certainly the most-watched booth in the West Hall. With Take Two�s Bioshock 2 under wraps today and the Uncharted 2 beta releasing last night (perhaps defusing some of the inaccessible mystique of the game), the first (and last?) God of War title on the PS3 is in genuine contention for Game of Show. And it�s easy to see why. Blood bloody blood.

This is the infamous head rip that set E3 ablaze when it was shown during the game play, I thought you guy's would like to see it for yourselves. Most sights are not showing it but we keep it GULLY over here!! Post comment to let me know it this will make you buy the game or is it to gruesome. Tot ce sper de la lansarea GoW3 e sa CE cu primele 2 incluse. Poate sa portate pt ps3. Poate... *sceptic*

Am fost absent de pe threadul asta o vreme asa ca scuze daca s-a mai vorbit - pe voi nu va deranjeaza oleaca violenta din gow3? am vazut filmuletele alea cu kratos cum ii rupe capul lui Helios si cum scoata ochiul la ciclop, sunt prea explicite in opinia mea!
Nu o sa imi afecteze decizia de a cumpara jocul dar stiu ca sigur o sa strang din ochi la fiecare scena de genul asta!

Good point there. Nu pot spune ca strang ochii sau mi se pare prea explicita dar da, sa spunem ca trece anumite limite. Nu neaparat un lucru rau, seria este cunoscuta in mare parte datorita violentei si este un punct important in decizia multora de a`l cumpara. Este pana la urma un joc M+...

Sincer mi se pare ca`n scena cu Helios mai trebuia niste sange... parca i l`a smuls cam sec asa...

Un pic offtopic dar discutia despre cat de violent e gow 3 mi-a adus aminte de articolul asta (wired).
Pe scurt, un studiu arata ca jocurile mai putin violente sunt mai apreciate de catre cei care le joaca.

Indeed, interesant articol. Dar pana la urma e tot o chestie extrem de subiectiva si parerile se schmba de la un gamer la altul. In cazul God of War totusi, presupun ca violenta intensa e necesara pentru a sublinia cateva elemente importante ale psihologiei lui kratos si jocului in general. Este totusi un joc de razbunare, si dupa vorbele developerilor, Kratos a fost creat ca insusire a furiei, probabil de acolo nevoia de smulge capete si overkill a tot ce misca. Mitologia greaca e oricum plina de scene de violenta extrema deci nu se duce prea departe jocul fata ce e stiut deja.

Sunt de acord totusi ca violenta excesiva ia cateodata din fun, mai ales la jocurile care se chinuie atat de tare sa fie violente incat uita de celelalte elemente ce fac un joc bun. Un exemplu ar fi ultimul Soldier Of Fortune, care pornind doar de la idea ca primele SoF au fost bune doar ca erau idiotic de exagerate pe planul violentei, a uitat de alte lucruri...

Eu chiar nu inteleg ce Dzeu le-a venit sa prezinte 25 de minute de gameplay la E3 2009. Mai prezinta vre-o 25 de minute peste 2-3 luni, inca 25 de Craciun... si cand iese jocul o sa-l jucam din memorie

Poate ca au vazut fanii nerabdatori , dar chiar ca au exagerat putin cu gameplay-ul(totusi sunt 25 de minute)! Sincer sper sa nu ne mai prezinte gameplay-uri.Putin mai mult suspans nu strica!
