Bethesda is getting a lot of well deserved criticism over its inability to bring Skyrim: Dawnguard to PS3, however, it seems like the developer is still doing its best to bring PS3 fans the missing content.

"Right now our focus is on getting it to work so we can release it," said Hines via Twitter in response to fans questions, "Not on what we do if we can't."

Hines did add that Bethedsa are working with Sony to try to get the content working to a good standard and then released. Whether that will happen though remains to be seen.

Skyrim ‘Dragonborn’ DLC files leaked, dragon mounts incoming – report | VG247

Skyrim: Dragonborn is the next DLC pack from Bethesda, according to players who have accessed the game’s update files. The files point to many Morrowind locations, dragon mounts and more.

OXM reports that gamers mined the update for clues as to the next DLC pack, and found repeated references to ‘Dragonborn’ and ‘DLC2′ among the file names.
Here’s a sampler:

The leak comes after Zenimax registered trademark files for ‘Dragonborn’ in reference to DLC software.

Now on Steam: Skyrim 1.8 Beta Update

Beginning today, Steam users can opt into Skyrim’s 1.8 Beta Update. Release notes below:

- General memory and stability improvements
- Fixed rare crash when using vampiric grip
- Fixed issue where Arnleif and Sons Trading Company could become permanently locked
- Fixed issue related to duplicate NPCs

Skyrim-inspired course offered through Rice University’s Department of English | VG247

Skyrim is now a course you can take at Rice University in Houston, Texas – sort of. The one-time course titled: “Scandanavian Fantasy World: Old Norse Sagas and Skyrim” is being offered by the Department of English, and enrollment is limited.

Here’s the course description, which was highlighted by Bethesda:

“This course has two goals. First, it introduces students to fantasy as both psychological concept and driving force in gamer culture; and second, using these paradigms, it considers how and why medieval Scandinavia serves as a locus of modern Anglo-American fantasy. To these ends, students will read selections from Old Norse and Old Icelandic sagas (in translation) as they play different quests within Skyrim.

“While the course begins by identifying moments of intersection between the worlds of the sagas and of Skyrim (inclement environments, supernatural figures, mythologies), the course is not in any means meant to map the former onto the latter. The purpose of establishing these connections is to then consider how elements of medieval Scandinavian culture have been taken out of historical milieu and literary context, morphed into unfamiliar shape, and appropriated towards other fantastic pursuits.

“We’ll consider the political saga of Skyrim, with its emphasis on Empire and rebellion, as pursuits made possible by way of Scandinavia in order to think through what Scandinavian fantasy worlds are really about and why they resonate with contemporary Anglo-American culture.”

Skyrim crowned Ultimate Game of the Year, full list of winners revealed at 30th hmv GamesMaster Golden Joystick Awards

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has scooped the big gong at this year’s Golden Joystick Awards, fighting off competition from the likes of Mass Effect 3, Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 to be anointed The Ultimate Game of the Year. Jarls everywhere raised a mead-filled skull in stern approval of its triumph.

Bethesda’s open world dragon-bashing RPG also snagged two other awards at the ceremony, held this year in the extremely plush Westminster Park Plaza hotel in London. With comedian Ed Byrne doing the honours, Skyrim received commendation as the Best RPG and also won the Top Gaming Moment category for the Throat of the World sequence.

Other PC games won big as well, with Civilization 5: Gods & Kings winning Best Strategy, Portal 2 getting the Best DLC nod for the Perpetual Testing Initiative, Battlefield 3 snagging Best Shooter, the Best MMO award going to World of Tanks and indie horror hit Slender championed as the best Browser-Based game.

Folks in the U.K., Benelux, Germany and possibly other territories in Europe are getting new premium edition of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
This edition includes a copy of a the
game, a map, t-shirt, novel, postcards and a disc containing numerous extras,
including trailers, walkthroughs, and a strategy guide. According to an Amazon listing , it's launching this December. The PC version only contains the disc. For now, it appears there are no plans for
this new edition to launch in North
America.
