Could the date of October 17, 2013, hidden within this The Last Of Us screenshot, be the final release date for PlayStation 4?

Speculation is running rife that the date will probably have some significant meaning as Naughty Dog is no stranger to dropping hints of future events within its videogames. In Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, for example, players found a newspaper on the floor with the headline “Scientists Are Still Struggling To Understand Deadly Fungus,” an obvious reference to The Last Of Us.

In this screenshot, we see the date on an evacuation notice board, warning residents to leave the area at 8pm 10/17/13.

Cred in continuare ca ea va fi prezentata in toata splendoarea la E3.

Ubisoft calls for shorter console cycle for PS4, Xbox 720 -- PlayStation Universe

Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, has called for a shorter console cycle for PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720 in comparison to their predecessors.

Speaking with MCV, Guillemot said the seven-year wait for new platforms has been too much, and wants the PS4 and Xbox 720’s successors to arrive a lot sooner.

"No we don't want to wait seven years for the next one," he said. "We will have cloud gaming that will improve over time, for sure. And we certainly have enough novelties for a few years.

"The consoles have taken a long time, we've been saying it for a long time. It's really once those consoles come that we can let creative people more risk, and they feel they can take more risk because new consoles can be more open.

"They have so many features that they can play with. It's easier to be a creative person with new consoles, because after four years of people using all the capacity, it's harder to be innovative. With PS4, we will see new ideas and new ways to approach gamers. And that will excite consumers and excite creators."

Furthermore, Guillemot observed that games will look technically impressive from day-one thanks to the system’s innards being based on PC architecture.

"Because the teams are working hard on their projects, I think we will see good things from the start," said the executive. "Sure, in two years engineers will figure out how to do a lot more. But these machines are easier to build on than before, so we should be able to reach their potential quicker."

PS4 price hinted by Sony, console will appeal to 'gamers in the broadest sense' -- PlayStation Universe

Earlier this week, Sony Worldwide Studios vice president Michael Denny sat down with EDGE Online to discuss five years of PlayStation 4 planning. We previously covered news of Sony knowing PS4's release date and the console's physical appearance, but it seems there's more to this interview than first meets the eye.

When quizzed about the PS4's price and lessons learnt from PS3's launch disappointments, Denny responded with confidence, saying, "we have to be informed by what the strengths of our PlayStation 3 system have been, but also the challenges of that."

He continued by describing the type of audience Sony hopes to reach with PS4's price: "We want a system that can reach as broad a gaming audience as possible. . . . we have created a console absolutely focused on gamers – and we want that to be gamers in the broadest sense as well."

"I think to some extent I can ask you to draw your own conclusions."

So, what conclusions do YOU draw? Much of the internet gaming audience seems to agree that $400 is a likely and reasonable launch price for PS4, while others point out that a launch bundle for $450 or $500 could includes games or a PlayStation Plus subscription and accessories.

OK, daca pentru tine ps3 a fost o greseala si hardware bun inseamna ram mult... e clar.

Ps3 nu a fost o greseala, decizile celor de la Sony in privinta pretului la lansare, dorinta de a face din ps3 mai mult un media center decat o consola,lipsa jocurilor la lansare si procesorul Cell la care developeri au trebuit sa lucreze in plus pt a avea aceeasi performanta ca Xbox.

Cantitatea de ram n-are absolut nicio legatura cu durata de viata a consolei. Vezi PS2 care a avut 32 MB RAM si o mai gasesti inca in magazine si au aparut jocuri NOI pentru ea si anul asta (la 13 ani de la lansare).

Durata de viata a consolei e data de jocurile care apar pentru ea.

Poate ai vrut sa spui ca va fi mai longeviva prin faptul ca va putea sa ruleze in viitor jocurile din ce in ce mai pretentioase. Dar si asta e discutabil, cantitatea mare de ram ajuta cu siguranta, dar mult mai important e sa ai un chip video flexibil si rapid si un procesor puternic.
