Shortly after reports that a deal between Electronic Arts and Valve was close to being made, in regards to the appearance of Battlefield 3 on Steam, EA has released a statement saying that there's "nothing to report" about the issue.
Battlefield 3 is set to be distributed digitally on the PC only through EA's Origin service, because specific DLC terms and conditions prevent Valve from accepting it on its Steam platform. A deal was reported to be almost signed which would allow the game to appear, but has now been denied.
"There's really nothing to report. We've got a strong relationship with Valve, but we don't have anything new to announce on this,” said an EA spokesperson to Industry Gamers.
As such, seeing as how Battlefield 3 is almost ready for release, on October 25, in North America, and 28, in Europe, it's less and less likely that it's going to appear on Steam.

Battlefield 3 Open Beta Gets Caspian Border Map Today
DICE and Electronic Arts, the two companies behind the upcoming Battlefield 3 first-person shooter, have confirmed that a brand new map for the game's current open beta stage, Caspian Border, will go live this weekend, right before the end of the testing phase.
Doar pe PC?
---------- Post added 08-10-2011 at 11:31 AM ----------
"As we are again specifically testing 64-player server configurations, this test will be for PC only. The Caspian Border servers will be available for all PC players to join. Caspian Border will be available starting Friday, October 7th, in the afternoon (CET)."
Battlefield 3 "Final Hours" Press Event - Planet Battlefield
- When placing a spawn beacon or a enemy motion sensor as a sniper, the devices would appear red indicating that it could not be placed in that location. When the device could be placed, it would turn yellow. Very helpful visual cue as the beta gave no cue.
- Your player screen loses color saturation as a new visual indicator (besides the timer) when you go out of bounds.
- Same sort of visual indicator as the out of bounds screen appears but with blood surrounding it when you’re low on health.
- Hit boxes were dramatically improved. My bullets didn’t magically go through enemies’ torsos.
- When running as the assault/medic class, the visual indicator of an incapacitated teammate is more prominent with a circle surrounding the defrib symbol now.
- Jet stick controls on console are similar to BF1943 on console. If you don’t prefer those controls, they are completely customizable. Also, when your jet is low on health, it becomes a little more difficult to control until it is completely incapacitated and falls from the sky. Y (or triangle) switches between your heat-seeking missiles and your cannon. R-bumper (or R1) deploys smoke.
- Flying choppers felt almost exactly like BFBC2. Was able to fly right away.
- Changing views in the vehicles has been moved back to the R-stick much like BFBC1 unlike up on the D-pad on BFBC2.
- Parachutes take little longer to deploy than BFBC2, and while in the air they are a little harder to control to your destination.
- Death animations look more realistic. No more funky physics where their body flies 30 feet across the screen after being killed. Player’s eyes are closed when they die.
- Knifing animation looks a lot better, especially when knifing someone on the ground.
- Frostbite 2 was in full effect in terms of destruction. Buildings were tumbling down, everything was being destroyed around me in most every map I played.
- The amount of damage it takes to kill an enemy on regular mode seems a little less than the beta.
- I was able to equip the knife on the PS3 build. Not sure about the Xbox 360.
- You CAN spawn in to jets in both console builds, there is an option on the menu spawn screen to do so.
Battlefield 3 e atat de real incat ma plimbam singur in padure pe caspian si deodata cad din picioare si mor, nefiind impuscat de un inamic deoarece nu mi-a aratat nici un nume cat timp era in killcam.
The new Frostbite 2.0 - Now featuring realistic heart attacks !

are exact ce-i trebuie.
Daca Dice va asculta de feedback ul primit in beta , l as cumpara in 2 exemplare si una as dona o .
Va astept in varianta finala ! Bafta
E excelent jocul.
Battlefield 3 – More on Co-Op, Post-DLC, Scripted Moments, Atmosphere | GamersMint
While Swedish-based developer DICE are readying up for Battlefield 3′s launch this month, the company has started to talk about the third installment’s co-op, post-downloadable content for the shooter, as well as future installments in the franchise.
Speaking to AusGamers, the developer’s Community Manager and Marketing man, Gustav and Daniel, first spoke about the co-op feature implemented into the game, stressing on the fact that it’s completely different from the single player experience:
Co-op is very much about playing the same mission a few times and trying to beat your previous scores or your friends scores. So co-op is actually a completely different campaign from the single-player. It’s not that you’re playing through the single-player campaign with your buddy. Across the six missions it’s a brand new storyline with new characters that you meet in the story; new characters that you play as. It’s very much a completely separate experience that is, of course, tied to what’s happening in the single-player. Co-op is also very focused on you and your buddy playing co-op, whereas single-player is very much single-player. So we’ve added in elements to co-op such as “complete the map in a set time” in order to unlock stuff — in order to achieve self-reliance and victory, that sort of stuff.
Playing the co-op campaign offers a lot of new incentives; a lot of new stuff. You can unlock weapons that you can bring with you to multiplayer later. That’s the big difference. Co-op is focused on the storyline, but of course, you and your friend play. Whereas single-player is focused on the storyline, but we want to give you yourself an amazing experience.
With the confirmation of one downloadable content pack for Battlefield 3, the Back to Karkand expansion pack, DICE also commented on post-DLC support for the shooter, confirming that they’re aren’t ruling out that it’s planned:
We’re not ruling out any possibilities, but at this point we’ve only announced the Back to Karkand expansion pack, coming out later this year. What I can say, is that we want our dlc — no matter how it’s set — to be a new experience for the player. And that — in theory — could just be an extension of the co-op, for example.
But it’s important to us that it’s not just a map pack; it’s a new themed-setting; it brings you something that’s more than maps. Vehicles, weapons, new ways of playing; expanding the experience and giving players something fresh and new. That’s how we’re thinking and that’s what we’ve done with the first planned expansion which is Back to Karkand.
Much has been made on scripted modes in Battlefield 3, and here’s what DICE said on it, as well as touching on the subject of atmosphere:
I would say that yes we use a lot of scripted moments in the single-player to give you the immersion and the tone that we want to deliver in the single-player. I think we learnt a lot, starting at Battlefield: Bad Company 1 — which was very open — and we kind of narrowed it down to take you on a more emotional journey since then and Battlefield 3 is the pinnacle of that development I would say. But you still have the variety of the multiplayer in the single-player. You can play with all these different weapons, gadgets and vehicles so even in more scripted environments, you still have this huge variety to play with that in a way prepares you for multiplayer, which is what we want people to experience in the end.
He then went on to explain how each mode in Battlefield 3 had something unique to offer fans with:
Because Battlefield 3 is for a big part, about multiplayer, because that’s the heritage for us. So a lot of variety in single-player that will help you in multiplayer. Also, I’d like to mention there’s some more randomised events in co-op for example, so that it’s not always the same experience when you play it several times in a row. Co-op is very much about playing the same mission a few times and trying to beat your previous scores or your friends scores.
Xbox 360 Battlefield 3 Will Have 3 Disks, High Resolution Textures
The developers at DICE have confirmed that the Xbox 360 version of their upcoming first person shooter Battlefield 3 will come complete with a high resolution texture pack that will be located on the second disk of the game package.
The entire game will come on 3 DVDs on the Microsoft home console, with the first two of them probably linked to the single player campaign and the third required for the multiplayer side of the shooter.
Patrick Liu, who is one of the producers working on Battlefield 3, has told Gamerzines at a recent event linked to the game in London that, “There’s a voluntary install on the 360. I think Rage did it as well, where you can install content to stream higher res textures.”
He added, “We’re pushing that technology to the limit, and compared to our competitors, I would argue that we’re the best looking game.”
When RAGE, the id Software made shooter, launched last week it also arrived on three disks on the Xbox 360, with the developers encouraging all players to install the game to the hard drive for the best gameplay experience.
Battlefield 3 is powered by the new Frostbite 2 game engine, which allows for more environmental destruction and has produced some lovely images and trailers to promote the game.
Battlefield 3 also launches on the PlayStation 3 for Sony (using just one Blu-ray disk) and on the PC (via both disks and digital distribution) on October 25 in North America and October 28 in Europe.
It biggest competition this year is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which is being created by Treyarch and published by Activision Blizzard.
The two titles will battle for the crown of best first person shooter of 2011 and will probably top the sales charts for the period.
how sweet... It brings me back memories!
spre deosebire de ps3 presupun ca mai are are un disk in plus cu iarba!
avem gameplay nou cu avioane... in final avem si rachete aer/sol!
De unde ai luat stirea "bomba"? Trei discuri? "Modern Warfare 3" facut de Treyarch? Se vede ca este foarte informat jurnalistul respectiv, exact ca si cei din televiziunile romanesti...

DICE Confirms “Online Pass” for Battlefield 3.
sursa: MP1st – DICE Confirms “Online Pass” for Battlefield 3Several months ago, in an interview with GamerZines, Patrick Bach eluded to the fact that Battlefield 3 will have an online pass-esqe system in place for used copies. He refrained from calling it an online pass. Patrick explained “I don’t think it’s an online pass, I think it’s our own backend. I’m not sure I want to call our system an online pass.”
Today, Alan Kertz, DICE’s Core Gameplay Designer, was asked by a fan, “do you need to buy a new battlefield 3 to play xbox live?” Alan responded ”You can also purchase an online pass for a used copy.” It’s worth noting that Battlefield Bad Company 2 had a “VIP” pass, which gives players full access to all maps. Second hand buyers have to buy the VIP pass to have access to all maps. We still don’t know if the new online pass for Battlefield 3 will lock out some maps, or if it is a traditional online pass. Traditional online passes require player who have purchased a used copy of the games to pay about $10 to have online access.
This move by EA shouldn’t come as a surprise since the publisher has been pushing this system in one form or another in many of its games.
